MOTVS is co-founder of Exetra Records, which is a well-respected techno imprint that’s been used to releasing much of his own music. He has also dropped tracks on other highly influential record labels ranging from Autektone Records to Codex, and his new “DNA” EP comes via UMEK’s imprint 1605.

DNA is MOTVS debut on 1605 and it includes two original productions from the veteran Italian artist who for well over a decade, has released fast-paced music under a multitude of different aliases. With a background in hard dance, MOTVS’ style of techno is always gripping and exhilarating from the first beat.

First on the release is the title track “DNA” that takes its title from the subject matter of the vocal sample, which talks about how humans can leave a legacy beyond just their reproductive DNA. It’s a thought-provoking vocal that is nestled above a brutal kick drum and pulsating bassline. The bass-heavy groove has a brooding intensity and tantalising breakdown section augmented by the futuristic vibe of the vocal.

Automa” is made from a similar sound palette to DNA and packs just as hard a punch. Snare rolls and electrifying synths combine with thrashing high-end percussion to create a rapid groove. Its eerie vocals and ominous synth chords make for an epic breakdown section that defines the track before the drums and bass come crashing back in.
