On Edge Society is a label headed up by Carlo Lio plus Kareem Cali, and the imprints new release is from Avision.
Alongside the three original cuts is also a remix from the legend that is DJ Rush who to true fans of the techno genre should need little introduction.
Avision himself is also working towards legendary status, as although he is still relatively new to the world of techno in comparison to the likes of DJ Rush, he has already managed to build up a back catalogue including releases on Ben Sims’ Hardgroove, Mark Broom’s BeardMan, Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave, Victor Calderone’s Matter, Sian’s Octopus, and Carl Cox’s Intec.
In many ways, Avision is similar to the likes of Dense & Pika or Charlotte de Witte due to his ability to make accessible techno, which also appeals the more niche and underground techno DJ’s who might not usually play music put out by some of the labels he releases on.
From the EP it’s the original mix of “Complicated” which we have been lucky enough to premiere. Taking its title from the vocal stating “things don’t have to be so complicated” the track has a punishing tempo with acid stabs played in pulsating rhythms, hammered home by crunching claps and fast flowing ride cymbals.
