Robbie Akbal is label owner of Akbal Music and along with many releases on his own label he has also featured on Crosstown Rebels, Sol Selectas, Kindisch and Culprit.
Currently based in Berlin but originally from Mexico, Robbie Akbal is a talented DJ who has played all over the world, and is soon to start a US tour that along with Burning Man, includes dates in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Miami, San Diego and Chicago.
His style is a fusion of dreamy melody, natural textures and earthy percussion often playing tribal rhythms. Tempo is also something that plays a big part of his sound as he often leans towards slower paced music where the groove calms the mind whilst moving the body.
Akbal Music recently featured a new EP by Robbie Akbal that he made in collaboration with vocalist Ay Sarita called “Fanaya”, which features in the track list of his stunning podcast recorded here for us at Him Self Her.
