Boom Merchant is an Irish techno talent releasing a new EP, Chronicle, via Eclipse Recordings.

Chronicle features four original tracks that are dark and full of intensity. The individual tracks have their own mood and energy, making them ideal for different parts of a DJ set. This is Boom Merchant’s first time releasing his music through Eclipse Recordings, and prior to this EP, he had worked with the likes of Autektone, Gain and Dolma.

“Scrapyard” kicks off the set with a heavy kick surrounded by swirling drum rhythms. Bass stabs and sirens create tension before the vicious arpeggio takes centre stage to complete the ruthless ensemble.

“Mezcal” is second, and it also has Boom Merchant’s trademark swirling drum patterns, but this time it’s a deeper mood with mellow pads and a looped vocal phrase delivering a more subdued energy.

“Chronicle” is the third track on this EP, and it’s built around a captivating vocal about the power of hip hop music. The vocal is nestled on a backing track underlined by a throbbing bassline, while swirling drums deliver a brutal yet hypnotic flow.

Staying on the hip hop theme, the release is closed by “Everybody,” which is a track that samples the voice of a well-known rap star. The confrontational lyrics are stretched over a pounding backing track, which has deep synth chords delivering poignant moments.
