Marcel Vogel‘s label Lumberjacks in Hell is certainly riding high at the moment with a Gospel influenced release called The Deadpool EP that features Karizma having reportedly sold over 2,000 vinyl copies.
Back with another Gospal influenced release, the new Lumberjacks in Hell release is an EP from Belgian producer Krewcial, who some might recognise via his music featured on other labels such as We Play House or BBE.
Sprinkled with Jazz and smothered in Soul, this release centres around looped samples from old records with some additional synths and shimmering FX processing.
Each of the tracks on this release has something special about it, whether it’s the twinkle of a Jazz piano or a Hip Hop style vocal sample, but the gospel influenced “Heal” is the obvious stand out as an unofficial follow up to Karizma’s “Work It Out“.
Full of analogue warmth and some hands on roughness, this is a must have record for anyone who has even the slightest interest in House music.
