Seva Records is a label run by Jag Kiranmay who originally from Prague, now lives in London where he also hosts a radio show on Hoxton FM.
Deep and stripped back, the new Seva Records release titled the Comme Ca EP features original tracks from Imran Khan, who makes his debut on the label following music on other imprints including Clinique Recordings and Stellar Fountain.
On remix duty is up and coming talent Rico Casazza who is based in London and has featured on established imprints such as BEEF Records, Archipel, and Plastic City.
Understated with a shimmering sound the title track “Comme Ca” kick starts proceedings with its jostling percussion and textured synths that wrap around a murky vocal sample.
The second track “West London Deep” has the same style of sound design as the opening track, but with chunky percussion at its forefront, the jackin groove is slightly more dancefloor focused.
Last of the originals, “Empty Spaces” is the most ambient of the three and has ethereal synths playing daydream melodies. Spacious and thoughtful, its delicate sound glimmers like dew drops in the morning sun.
Rico wraps things up with his deep and techy remix of Empty Spaces, which has a looped sound with added percussion. The atmospheric bass growls and provides this tribal sounding rework with a new angle on the original creating an up-tempo version full of dramatic effects.
Overall this is a great EP of deep tech house in the style of artists like Tiefschwarz, Javier Carballo and James Dexter.
