Swiss born but currently based in America’s capital city New York, is a fresh new artist called Null + Void. In this case we use “fresh new artist” in the loosest sense of the term, as although the alias is new, the man behind it is something of a veteran.
Many may not instantly recognise the name Kurt Uenala who is the man behind the Null + Void alias, but there is a good chance you will have heard his music, as he has shared studio time working alongside the likes of Moby, The Kills and Depeche Mode.
Null + Void recently released his debut album of dark synth pop that’s rich in analogue textures, and titled Cryosleep it has an 80’s sci-fi influence that paints pictures of dystopian landscapes plus the splendour of far-off galaxies.
The ten track release is down tempo with broken beats, and has a sound that could have easily been used as part of the original Blade Runner soundtrack.
Featuring the vocals of Shannon Funchess, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Big Pink and Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan, we strongly recommend this album as perfect for headphones listening.
