When We Dip XYZ is a label set up by the people who run the When We Dip blog and only on its third release, the label is already picking up some real momentum with sublime, deep tracks that capture the imagination and keep the dance floor moving.
The first release on XYZ was from Budakid who joined the labels roster after already working with leading imprints such as Last Night On Earth, Click Records and All Day I Dream. That debut release on XYZ is still picking up headline DJ support months after it was made available in stores, and it’s proven so popular the label commissioned a remix pack with revised version from Esteble, Pablo Bolivar and Ian O’Donovan.
Each of the artists put their own stamp on things without losing touch of the original versions vibe and mood.
Focusing on atmospherics, Esteble who has links to Anjunadeep, Diynamic and Stil vor Talent has done a blissed out version of “Quixotic”. Ian O’Donovan reworks in the style he has championed via releases on John Digweed’s Bedrock reworked “Anesthesia”. Pablo Bolivar already having a similar style to Budakid, adds extra ethereal synths to make his version of “Senlin” an even deeper option.
This EP very much pays homage to the original release with the remixes giving new options to those who are still playing the tracks, and drawing a spotlight on the release for those discovering it via the remixes.
If you are a fan of DJ’s such as YokoO, Lee Burrige or Damian Lazarus then this definitely going to be for your kind of thing.
