Apollo Music Group drops some phat house with sleezy vocals and percussive flare. The release is from Local Options who are a duo consisting of Santiago and Frank Solano.
Local Options are Chicago residents whose music takes influence from the music synonymous with their zip code, as their style epitomises the jackin’ style of Chicago House.
Opening with the snare rolls and pitched down vocals of “Schemin”, the EP’s style of tech house is perfect from rocking a club from the ceiling to the floor.
Moving through to the second tack “No Love” things get raw with fizzing hi-hats and tapping woodblock rhythms fused with rubbery synths pops and tight claps.
In a similar style to the first two cuts “Jackulito” brings focus to the bass frequencies with pitched tom drums and the boom from the bottom end, while stabbing vocals provide a jerking energy over the top.
Finishing the package is a remix from Ed Nine whose “No Luv City Remix” of “No Love” brings new life to the original with a minimal style remix that strips back the sound without losing any of the track’s personality.
Overall this is a great EP for those who play a variety of house music styles, as although it focuses mainly on Chicago House it also has tech house and deep house elements.
