Out now is a four-track techno release from UMEK’s 1605 titled Desiderati 4.8. Desiderati 4.8 is the latest in the record label’s mixed artist series that in the past has been a gateway onto the imprint for up-and-coming talents such as Sam Wolfe and Mha Iri.
True to that tradition, this latest EP in the series features 1605 debuts from Elakto, NoNameLeft and AKKI (DE) plus a track from Beico who is a regular on the imprint.
Elakto’s debut is particularly impressive, as it’s a collaboration with UMEK who at this point is one of the most respected names in the global techno scene. Their track ‘Universe’ is fast-paced techno with driving energy and an immersive atmosphere that ramps up the tension in the epic breakdown section.
NoNameLeft is a duo from Budapest that have a stripped-back style with dark intensity. Their track ‘Price To Pay’ has an ominous vocal sample that’s layered with dramatic bass stabs and rigid percussion.
Beico’s ‘Irradiant’ has a cavernous sound with expansive synths that add to its awe-inspiring atmosphere. Its tantalising suspense and twisted euphoria intertwine with the thundering techno percussion.
‘Move Your Body’ by AKKI (DE) is the closing track and some may feel the best has been saved until last, as it’s certainly a stand-out piece of music from the German artist. The distinctive vocals give it personality and those lyrics combine with its bassline and lead synth to give it a triple threat of attention-grabbing hooks.
It’s available now on Beatport, and you can buy a copy from HERE.
