Tim Xavier & D-Knox

If techno had a secret laboratory hidden somewhere between Berlin and Detroit, Soul Kraft would probably be what escaped when nobody was looking.

Tim Xavier and D-Knox don’t simply write tracks here, they tinker, twist, dismantle and rebuild them into something that constantly keeps you guessing. Born from a year of hardware jams and long-distance exchanges between Berlin and Warsaw, and supported by Raresh, Evil Nine, and Kenny Glasgow of Art Department, this six-track expedition refuses to colour inside the lines, yet never loses its groove.

The inviting haze of “Soul Kraft Intro” gently opens the door beforeStream of Consciousness” throws you headfirst into a maze of crooked rhythms, delayed stabs and wonderfully peculiar sonic detours. “Off into the Abyss” strips everything back without sacrificing momentum, proving that sometimes the smallest ideas make the biggest impact.

Flip the record over and the surprises keep coming. “Tomorrow Is a Rainy Day” arrives with a swaggering broken beat that feels like techno wearing its dancing shoes, while “3choes of 3ther” locks into a hypnotic modular loop that’s impossible to shake. By the time “Dead Stare Grinder” stomps into view with its snarling synths and electro attitude, the EP has fully embraced its wonderfully eccentric personality.

There’s plenty here for adventurous DJs, but Soul Kraft is equally rewarding away from the dance floor. Every listen uncovers another hidden detail, another strange texture or another unexpected turn. It’s bold, quirky and refreshingly unafraid to wander off the beaten path, serving as a reminder that some of techno’s most memorable journeys begin by taking the scenic route.
