Music Is 4 Lovers is a new US label headed up by the people behind the Music Is 4 Lovers blog, and its debut release is a five track EP featuring original music from Nico Mendez with heavyweight remixes from My Favorite Robot and The Revenge.
Nico Mendez is a Scottish artist based in Glasgow who amongst other imprints has releases on Erase Records and Underground Source. For two of the three original tracks, Nico has collaborated with 17 Branches, whose solo music can be found on other labels such as Snake Beat and Baikonur Recordings.
The EP’s title track “Dealin” has a chunky club focused groove with acid squelches and haunting melody, which added to the combination of vocals gives the track a moody atmosphere. The two collaboration’s with 17 Branches titled “Children Of House” and “Money” keep the same chunky sound as “Dealin”, rich with snare rolls, plus bass hooks that will have no problem rocking a dancefloor.
Fellow Scottish artist The Revenge provides a slightly more stripped back version of “Dealin” with siren like synths and building tension, whilst My Favorite Robot reworks “Money” into melodic techno with epic synths and a dark atmosphere.
