Sabo and Namito team up to release a Middle Eastern organic house single, which also has an Afro house remix by Silvano Del Gado. Out via Sabo’s record label, Sol Selectas, the original track also enlists the musicianship of Shamoun who plays Middle Eastern keys and a darbuka drum.
“Spicy Sumac” is the title of the original track, and it’s a brooding slice of organic house, with a lurching bassline underpinning shuffling organic percussion and dramatic melody stabs. There are also atmospheric pads that create mesmerising tension.
The track is a little darker than some might expect from Sabo, whose productions are usually feel-good tracks with a world music influence, but this just shows another side to his sound. Sabo is a very eclectic DJ who tells stories with his sets, and this track expresses that same eclectic range when compared to the previous music Sabo has produced.
Namito is a beloved producer who makes melodic music in a wide range of styles, and he has graced Sol Selectas with multiple top-selling tracks including productions such as “Stone Flower” and “Legend.” He has also featured on other prestigious record labels such as Embassy One, Bar 25, Do Not Sit, and Selador.
There is also a remix from Silvano Del Gado who delivers an Afro house rework of “Spicy Sumac” that lifts the tempo and draws attention to the percussion. Adding extra drums and a new bassline, his version contrasts nicely with the original.
