Sol Selectas new release is part two of label owner Sabo’s album ‘Buddy System’, and it’s an epic organic house release.
Originally released in 2020, Buddy System saw Sabo collaborate with a different artist on each of the tracks. The second part of the release is a remix package that features new versions by DJ T., DJ Chus, Derun, Laroz & T-Pulse, Abel Ray, Guy Mayaan, Inigo Vontier, Mula FR, Zuma Dionys and Nutia.
The original release only featured eight tracks, but there are ten remixes due to the tracks ‘Imagine’ and ‘Celebration Santoor’ getting remixed twice.
Staying true to the style of the original release, although the individual remixes have transformed the different tracks, on the whole, the album still fits inside the same genre parameters.
When skimming through the list of remix artists, DJ T. and DJ Chus are the two that instantly jump out, as most of the others are regular features on the Sol Selectas record label.
Germany’s DJ T. is well-known for being one of the founders of the Get Physical record label, and Spain’s DJ Chus is also one half of the Chus & Ceballos duo.
It’s hard to single out any one track from the release, as all of the tracks have their own charm, but the melodic house remix of Imagine by Inigo Vontier has an interesting techy vibe that contrasts with the Arabic chants taken from the original.
The Nutia and Zuma Dionys reworks also make a mark due to their slower tempos that feel like the plodding footsteps of a weary traveller slowly moving across a sun-drenched desert that’s enchanting them with hallucinogenic mirages.
There is a lot to unpack here, so it’s hard to give a detailed breakdown of all the individual tracks, but in summary, this definitely won’t disappoint anyone who is a fan of the organic house genre, as every track is a work of art in its own magical way.
