Through deep, pulsating techno, Samuli Kemppi takes us on an intense voyage that maintains the mystery and the intensity level high. This debut for Concrete Records LTD follows releases on Berghain’s Ostgut Ton and Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver, and is more than simply music; it’s a journey into sound, a compilation of songs that change, intensify, and twist in surprising ways.
It kicks off with “Trying to Bite,” a track that prowls forward with bubbling basslines and a sense of urgency—like something’s chasing you, and it’s catching up fast. “Conversation Without Resolution” is a wonky, off-kilter ride through modular mayhem, where tension builds but never quite releases. It’s a head-trip of the best kind.
Then things get serious. “All Warnings On” is pure propulsion, with skittering percussion and a bassline so elastic it feels like it could snap at any moment. If that track is a rocket launch, “Looking for a Way Out” is the free-fall—hypnotic, raw, and full of spiralling analogue bleeps that make you feel like you’re floating in zero gravity.
Just when you think you’ve got this EP figured out, “A Chamber Full of Nothing” shifts the mood. Spacious, dubby, and introspective, it’s the deep breath before the final rush. And then comes “River of Names,” where mechanical murmurs and ghostly vocals bring things to a rhythmic, dance floor-ready climax.
With Low Mileage, Kemppi delivers a wild, immersive ride that’s equal parts mind-expanding and body-moving. Buckle up—you’re in for a new and wholesome experience.
