Boom Merchant continues what’s been an impressive start to 2025 with his fourth release of the year, and it’s a two-track techno single on the Red Eclipse record label.
Red Eclipse is a sister imprint to Germany’s Eclipse Recordings, which released a Boom Merchant EP at the end of January. This release has dark and driving tracks with the gritty sound and intense energy that Boom Merchant is best known for.
This is the first time that Boom Merchant has featured on Red Eclipse, adding it to a catalogue that also includes Autektone, Gain, and Tribal Pulse.
Opening the release, “Shifting Sands” is the title track, and it layers a bouncy bassline with dark bass stabs and fast-paced percussion. Vocal phrases add uplifting bursts, and smooth pads create deep atmosphere in the breakdown.
“Backburner” is on the B-side, and it’s a deep and trippy track, with vocal phrases and atmospheric pads washing over hypnotic drum patterns.
